Relief for Vijayawada Top Cop
In a major relief to Vijayawada Police Commissioner Mr. KV Rajendranath Reddy, the government on Saturday revoked his suspension. The police commissioner was suspended on December 21 on charges of ‘negligence on duty’ after the dramatic escape of Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal who was admitted at the Government General Hospital following a fast protesting the proposed division of the state. Additionally, the commissioner’s suspension period from December 21 to January 2 will be treated as ‘on duty’. A Government Order to this extent was issued on Saturday by the newly appointed chief secretary Mr. SV Prasad based on the recommendations made by Additional Director General of Police (CID) Mr. Ambati Sivanarayana. However, no decision was taken regarding the fate of the other police officers including the Assistant Commissioner, two circle inspectors and another two sub inspectors.
