Pirates seize ship with 26 people on board
Pirates seized a grain laden ship off the Seychelles
coast on Wednesday. The ship MV Al Khaliq, with a crew of 26 out of which 24
were Indians was seized by the Somali pirates. This is the second attack
involving Indians in recent weeks with the first one on October 15 where two
Indians were on MV Kota Wajar which was hijacked by the Somali Pirates.
According to sources in the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), the two
other crew members of the Al Khaliq were Myanmarese, the captain and chief
officer were from Mumbai and the other were from Karnataka, Kerala, Goa and
Gujrat.
