NIMS asked about Raju’s health
Additional
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and special judge for the Satyam case B V L N
Chakravarthy on Friday enquired whether B Ramalinga Raju, the former chief of
Satyam was fit to face trial or not. According to Dr. Ajit Kumar, Raju was
suffering from Hepatitis C and should be treated as an in-patient. If not, his
health could deteriorate and could end up with life threatening liver failure
or liver cancer. He added that the treatment for Raju was going on and if
stopped, his health would deteriorate. “In such a condition it is advisable to
manage the patient under close supervision as in-patient as he carries very
high risk for morbidity on out-patient treatment,” the doctor said. The judge
had previously asked the doctors from NIMS to file a report on the health of
Raju. The doctor in his report said that Raju had developed severe ‘neutropenia’
and ‘thrombocytopenia’ after being administered the fifth and sixth dose of the
treatment for Hepatitis C.
